Welcome to Clean Earth Ltd.
Clean Earth Ltd. has invested in the construction of two sludge de-watering facilities in New Brunswick located in Saint John and Fredericton. These two locations provide sludge de-watering for residential, commercial, and industrial septic and waste haulers in South-Western New Brunswick. Septic haulers are given 24-hour access through their own individual security pass to the fenced and monitored facilities. Clean Earth de-waters the waste passing grey water to municipal systems and transporting the biosolids for disposal, usually at composting facilities. The first facility was constructed in 2000 in Fredericton and utilized a passive dewatering process, a screened de-watering box system to process the septic waste. The facility ran successfully with no major operational problems besides the significant manual requirements to run the operation. Due to the significant growth in volumes of material received annually, the Fredericton facility underwent a major process change in 2006. The Fournier system which had been used at the Saint John plant very successfully was installed in Fredericton.
The Fournier Press system, presently used at the Saint John facility, uses an innovative mechanical technology to remove more water from the sludge than the box system resulting in a drier sludge (cake), 35-45% solids. This system is more efficient and cost effective while requiring less labour. It also reduces disposal costs for the dry sludge that is charged on a per tonne basis. Based on 2002 figures of volumes reported by licensed septic haulers to the province, Clean Earth is currently processing 36% of the New Brunswick market. Each Clean Earth location has significantly increased volumes since inception. The Saint John location has experienced the greatest growth, with volumes increasing 171% from year-end January. 31, 2003 to year-end January 31, 2005. The Saint John facility underwent an upgrade in the summer of 2004, which proved integral to its success as the volume increased by 65% that year. The Fredericton facility has experienced a 50% volume increase from year-end January. 31/03 to January .31/05. Since inception, the Fredericton location has grown in volume by 91% necessitating an upgrade to its facility.
